South Greenville Elementary School
2008-2009
On the morning
of August 25, 2008, South Greenville Elementary School opened its doors
to more than 400 students adorned with the school colors, gold, black and
white.
Many students were excited to see their old teachers but a little apprehensive
about their new teachers and room location.
Many parents and older siblings walked the younger students to their classes.
Sounds of a typical school day began to resound, and it became very apparent
that students were excited about what was to come.
The freshly painted halls were filled with new bulletin boards, balloons, and
posted school rules.
Students were greeted at the doors by staff members who eagerly awaited their
arrival.
Staff members were also dressed with the official “school attire” to help the
students feel comfortable and relaxed
with the recently implemented Pitt County Schools Uniform Policy.
As the days continued to progress the students became more accustomed to
procedures and schools rules.
The week ended with
heavy downpours of rain on the outside of the school building.
The numerous smiles and many positive comments of teachers provided evidence
that a successful first week had passed. —
“WOW WHAT A GREAT WEEK!”
