There are many exciting
programs and groups planned for the
2006-2007 school year!
My job is to work with students in the classroom, small groups,
individually as needed, and to work with teachers and parents in any capacity
that I can be of assistance. I will be
spending the first few weeks of school going into each classroom and
introducing myself and discussing with the children what my job is. I will explain that I can be a friend, a
helper, and a good secret keeper. I will
also explain that there is a time when I can not be a secret keeper. I can not
be a secret keeper when our children are going to harm themselves or another or
someone is going to harm them. I will
explain that their safety always comes first.
My main goal as counselor is to work with teachers and parents to promote and enhance the learning experiences of our children by working very closely with teachers and parents.
All of our
children can come to the counselor’s office if they are:
Sad
Feel alone or shy
Have news to share
Are having difficulty in class
Are afraid
Have trouble making friends
Are happy
Are confused
Are feeling stress of some sort
Are having some sort of problem
· Students can refer themselves to the counseling office by picking up a
form from the outside of Ms. Beck’s door and then placing it in the message
folder. Teachers also have a form that
they may fill out and return to my box.
If a parent would like to make a referral or get a message to me you can
e-mail, fax, or call me at
Parents
please do not hesitate to contact me for any reason.
Especially
if you see signs of:
A change in eating habits
A change in sleep habits
Having difficulty completing school work
Frequently getting in trouble in school
Classroom guidance each month will center
on a different character word.
Please
talk with your children about these character traits. Talking with our children will help reinforce
these character traits at home as well as in school. Teachers will be reinforcing these traits as
well in their classrooms.
