It's been a great year in the library!  I am proud of our students.  They have become independent by coming to the library frequently, finding an appropriate book, and using individual library cards. The Accelerated Reader incentive project has been a huge success.  Lots of reading has been going on!  I hope our students will continue to read during the summer.  Sheppard Library branches throughout Greenville and Pitt County are great places to visit and check out books.  The public library and Barnes and Noble have summer reading programs.

Please make sure all lost/damaged books are paid for by the end of the school year.  Thank you!  Have a wonderful summer.  We look foward to seeing many of you next school year!

~Ms. O'Rear and Ms. Branch

Text Box: As the school year draws to a close we are fast approaching the End of Grade Tests for 3-5 grade students. We are diligently working on EOG review work during the school day, and have offered afterschool tutorials for all 3-5 students on 5/12-5/14. We appreciate all the parents who allowed their children to stay afterschool for that extra boost before the EOG’s. EOG’s begin on Monday, 5/18 for all 3-5 students and it is important that every child is present for EOG testing from 5/19-5/21. If you have an emergency that keeps your 3-5 grade child from attending school during the EOG’s please contact the school so we can alternate arrangements.
Parents, please be vigilant about checking your child's book bag every night to make sure you receive important information for the remainder of the school year. As you can see with the important dates to remember, there are many activities and programs occurring from now until the end of the school year. If you have questions about any programs or activities please contact your child’s teacher. Continue to encourage your child to do their best on the EOG and make sure they get a good nights sleep every night next week beginning with Sunday, 5/17.
A special THANK YOU goes out to the PTA from all of the staff members at Elmhurst for the wonderful food and treats provided during staff appreciation week. The staff at Elmhurst works hard to educate our children and we appreciate being appreciated!
