           All games are scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m.

 

 

 

 Athletic Eligibility for PITT COUNTY SCHOOLS CONFERENCE

A. All member schools are to abide by the athletic rules and regulation adopted by the State Board of Education.

B. Requirements for Athletic Participation include the following:

  1. A student must be a resident of the school administrative unit in which you areassigned.
  2. A student must have been in attendance for at least 85% of the previous semester at an approved school. (Your child cannot miss more than 13.5 days of a 90 day semester)
  3. A student must receive passing grades (70 or better) in math, science, communication skills and social studies the preceding semester and have met all other Pitt County Schools local promotion standards (3 or 4 on EOG's).
  4. A student shall not participate on a ninth grade junior high school team if he/she becomes 16 years of age on or before October 16th of said school year.
  5. A student shall not participate on a seventh or eighth grade team if he/she becomes 15 years of age on or before October 16th of said school year.
  6. A middle /junior high school student is overage for middle/junior high school play shall be eligible for senior high school participation.
  7. The student must receive a medical examination each year (365 days) by a duly licensed physician, nurse practitioner, or physician assistant. This must be turned in to the Athletic Director for your child to attend the 1st day of try-outs.
  8. As of 2006-2007 school year students have four consecutive semesters to play in athletics, beginning with their 1st year in the 7th grade.
  9. A student must be an amateur in order to be eligible to participate.
  10. Must not be guilty of unsportsmanlike conduct.
  11. Special Needs Eligibility - special needs student will meet the same requirements as anyone else in all areas of eligibility except the academic eligibility, which will be controlled through IEP and the school based committee.
