GREAT NEWS!!

In the Spring of 2007, Ms. O'Neill applied for and received a $67,000 grant from the Perkins Foundation of Pitt County. Our Library Beautification Project began right away with ordering furniture and carpet, as well as packing up our 13,000 books! Once we removed the books, the old shelves and furniture came out and was re-appropriated to our teachers, who can always make good use of extra seating, shelving and computer tables.

Over the summer, the work continued! Our wiring infrastructure was updated and our server was replaced to accommodate an increase in the number of classrooms and bandwidth demands. The old metal blinds on the windows were removed and replaced by UV protective film that not only is more energy efficient and attractive but also provides a level of safety to our students. Our old, worn carpet was replaced and the entire room was painted, giving it a bright shiny face!

At our Back To School Open House, our students had a chance to see the media center without furniture and without their beloved books. Unfortunately, it will be the first week of September before our shelves are delivered and then we will still have to put the books ON the shelves and Ms. O'Neill will be recruiting volunteers to help her out with that gargantuan task!

We have pictures of the transformation, if you would like to see! We have BEFORES and DURINGS ... and finally ...

Constantly updated : AFTERS!
