Media Center Visits
Ayden
Middle's media center is open from 7:35 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and operates on a
flexible schedule. Students visit the library on an individual basis as needed
for book check-out and with scheduled classes for various activities such as
research, multimedia work, and literacy enhancement. The media center's
collection includes reference materials, nonfiction and fiction in a wide range
of reading levels, newspapers, magazines, and educational videos. The media
center also facilitates access to valuable online resources. To obtain user IDs
and passwords for these resources, contact our media staff. To access, use links
in the side bar.
Checkout Policies
Students are allowed to check out up to three books at a
time as long as they keep their accounts current. The check-out period is three
weeks. Students who have overdue books have limited privileges until they return
the overdue item(s) or pay for lost items. Students are expected to clear their
record at the end of the school year.
Computers and Technology
Twenty eight computers are
available to students for searching the online catalog, using computer
applications, and researching on the Internet. An interactive mulitimedia board
is also available for classes to use, and five mobile computer projection units
are available for teachers to use in their classes. In addition, a computer lab
of 26 computers is used by teachers to implement technology-based lessons. Each
classroom has at least one networked computer. Some of the computer programs
used at AMS are Accelerated Reader, Cornerstone Skills Builder, Powerpoint
multimedia software, Infocentre online catalog, Study Island web-based skill
practice, and Microsoft Office products.
