RAIDERS NEWS
November/2009
From the Administration….
Welcome to the first edition of the PTA Newsletter! At this time, we are proud to highlight the accomplishments of our students, faculty, and staff.
With the start of the second nine weeks, we have many school events planned. These events include, but are not limited to, 12-week benchmark tests, 7th grade vision screening, a holiday food drive, 8th grade reality store, band, chorus and orchestra concerts. Please be on the look out for these events on our monthly school-wide calendar, recorded telephone messages and school website. Also, please remember to check your child’s Wednesday Communication Folder and A. G. Cox Student Planner for information regarding class work, homework, special projects and tests.
In closing, we thank you for your continued support. Enjoy the newsletter!

In order for your child to have a successful academic
school year, attendance is crucial. If
your child is absent from school, please send a note in the day your child
returns explaining the reason for the absence.
If a student accumulates 10 unexcused, unlawful absences, they are in
violation of the compulsory attendance law.
Court action can occur and the parent/guardian may be prosecuted. Pitt County Board of Education policy states
a student who is absent 21 days per school year for reasons defined as lawful
or unlawful, shall automatically fail the work for the class for the school
year. Please feel free to contact Jeanne Clark, Social Worker, for further
information. Let’s have a successful
year at A.G. Cox!!
