The National Junior Beta Club

The purpose of the organization shall be to encourage effort and regard merit among students and to promote those qualities that make for good citizenship in the school community. Those students in grade 6-8 who , in the opinion of the administration of the school, are of worthy character, good mentality, creditable achievement, and commendable attitude shall be eligible for membership.

To be eligible for the AG Cox Beta club, students need a 95 average in their four academic subjects. Every marking period, the grades are checked to see which new students qualify. Qualifying students are then notified and given the opportunity to join. The membership cost is $20, This money includes a fee paid to the national office, a Beta Club pin and a certificate. In the spring, all students inducted for that year are invited to a formal candle-lighting ceremony. Once students are in the Beta Club, they must maintain a 90 average. If their grade drops below 90, they are put on probation which means they cannot attend meetings and activities until they pull their average back up to a 90 or above. Members are active in various service projects throughout the year.
