Designing
a Web Page :
A Tutorial for Teachers
Web pages are written using a language called HTML (HyperText Markup Language). You'll discover that it is a fairly simple language to learn.
To create a web page, use the application called NotePad on a Windows computer. This is a small word processing application that does not utilize such items as tabs or spell checking. Create a folder on your computer to store all of your web page files. Your web page will include the documents that you type as well as any graphics that you might wish to include. Your page can have links to other web pages. A link is an item the reader clicks on that will take them to a new web page. It may be another page you have created or someone else's page that relates to the topic you are discussing on your page.
Before you begin typing decide what you wish to put on this page. You might want to include such things as: topics your class is currently studying with links to those topics; unique lessons or activities that you do with your students that other; a calendar of upcoming events; samples of some of your students' work, etc. Make your page something that the reader will find interesting and useful. Teachers have so many wonderful ideas. This is a way to share what you do and how you do it.
