TITLE 1

SCHOOL WIDE PROJECT

For the 97-98 school year Ayden Elementary School has qualified to be a Title 1 School Wide Project. We met the criteria for this project, which was to have more than 60% of the students on free or reduced lunch. This federal money will now be spent on all of our students.

Title 1 is funded by the largest federal aid program for our nation's schools. The goal of Title I is a high quality education for every child. Through the benefits of Title I children do better in school, and feel better about themselves. Parents can have more say about their children's education and can participate in educational programs themselves. Teachers benefit from the suggestions and support that parents offer, and from the satisfaction of seeing children succeed.

The following is a brief list of some of the benefits which will be provided through Title I for our Ayden students and families:

• additional teachers, assistants and staff
• additional training for school personnel
• extra time for instruction
• a variety of teaching methods and materials
• counseling and social worker services
• career and college awareness information
• additional computers and equipment
• parent education and workshops for parents
• technology rich environment
